FIRST - PLEASE NOTE:
The event is now held from Beartown State Forest in Great Barrington, MA. (1 hour southeast of Albany)
(Yes, it is no longer at the Dippikill the Wilderness Retreat in Warrensburg, NY.)
Additionally: We are offering FREE off-site parking (3.5 Miles from the race) at the Roadside Cafe and a FREE van ride TO/FRO the event. (Pack a bag which you can leave at the start/finish.)
(The park charges* an expensive parking fee for non-MA residents. Details here.)
*There IS free parking available within the forest, but it is HIGHLY limited in convenience to the start/finish area (free parking is permitted at the occasional pull-off along the main road.)
These races are HARD.
The Froggy Five is on difficult trail and has some very steep sections with very tricky footing.
The 13.1M is 80% dirt road/15% pavement/5% trail - with about 1,600 feet of elevation gain.
Expect to average 1 to 2+ minutes slower per mile than your 'normal' road half marathon pace.
Please be physically prepared to assume full responsibility for yourself. It will be HOT. The courses are BRUTAL. It's possible that these courses are harder than anything you ever run on if you've only run on paved, relatively flat roads. This is NOT for everyone. We just want to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.
